Cricket promoter, Malik Sarwar Mehmood criticised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selectors for ignoring talented batsman Muhammad Ayub once again. "Ayub, who scored 2100 runs in two season, suffered great injustice once again as the team was formed through back-doors and merit less players," he added.

Sarwar is one of 50 Pakistan recipients, and one of 1000 volunteers world-wide, to be awarded an ICC Centenary Medal in recognition of their contribution to the sport. He is also former President of Shalimar Zone Cricket Association.

Sarwar said Ayub deserved to be selected in Mohammad Hafeez-led Pakistan A team, on their tour of the UAE next month but in astonishing merit-kill decision, he failed to found his name. Even Kashif Siddiq (900 runs) and Abid Ali (794 runs) were given preference over Ayub although their displays were clearly unmatched to Ayub. He criticised the selection committee that was busy in picking blue-eyed players and ignoring merit.

He appealed to the patron of cricket to form a new selection committee comprising senior former cricketers be made immediately to make the selection fair and take action against the present selection committee. He also urged the government to take serious notice of malfunctions of the selectors of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and take action against the elements causing harm to the game of cricket.
